Is it legal to pay for a referral?
Yes. ReferView charges a consultation fee, not a referral fee. You're paying for the employee's time to review your resume, assess your fit, and provide professional guidance. The referral, if given, is the outcome of that consultation. This is similar to paying a career coach or mentor. Employees retain full discretion on whether to refer you.
What happens if the employee doesn't respond within 24 hours?
Your full consultation fee is automatically refunded to your original payment method. The timer starts the moment an employee accepts your initial request. We hold the payment in escrow until either the referral is confirmed or the timer expires. There are no fees charged for auto-refunds.
What if I was promised a referral but didn't get one?
Use the "Raise Complaint" button in your dashboard. Our team will review the case within 48 hours. If the employee marked "referred" but the referral wasn't actually submitted, you'll receive a full refund and the employee may be suspended. The bidirectional confirmation system (both you AND the employee must confirm) helps prevent false claims.
Can an employee reject my request?
Yes, and this is actually a feature, not a bug. If an employee reviews your resume and determines you're not a strong fit for the role, they can reject your request. However, they must provide written feedback explaining their decision. This gives you valuable insights for improving your application. If rejected, you receive a partial or full refund depending on the work done.
How are employees verified?
Every employee goes through a two-step verification: (1) LinkedIn profile verification to confirm work history, and (2) OTP sent to their official company email address (e.g., priya@google.com). Both must be successfully completed before they can accept referral requests. Verified employees display a green shield badge on their profile.
Does getting a referral guarantee an interview?
No, and we're transparent about this. A referral significantly increases your chances of getting reviewed by a recruiter (referred candidates are 4x more likely to get an interview), but it doesn't guarantee one. Your resume, skills, and fit for the role ultimately determine the outcome. Our employees only refer candidates they genuinely believe are strong fits, which is why our success rates are high.
Is my payment and card information safe?
Yes. All payments are processed through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. ReferView never sees or stores your full card number or bank details — that data is handled directly by Razorpay's secure systems. Your consultation fee is held in escrow and only released to the employee once the referral is confirmed, so your money is protected throughout the process.
