ReferView ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ReferView you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

• Account data: name, email address, and password (stored only as a salted hash).
• Profile data: for employees, your company, role, consultation fee, and verification status; for candidates, the roles and companies you are interested in.
• Verification data: company email confirmation and PAN details submitted for payout KYC. PAN numbers are stored in masked form (last four digits) plus a verification reference.
• Transaction data: referral requests, payments, and payouts processed through our payment partners.
• Technical data: log information such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps used for security and fraud prevention.

1a. Cookies and Tracking

We use a small number of cookies and similar browser-storage technologies:

• Strictly necessary: session and authentication tokens (stored in your browser's local storage) that keep you signed in and protect your account. The platform cannot function without these.
• Preference: remembering settings such as your selected role or display options.

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Because we rely only on strictly necessary and preference storage, no separate advertising consent banner is shown; you can clear this data at any time through your browser settings, though doing so will sign you out.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate the referral marketplace and match candidates with verified employees.
• To process payments, hold funds in escrow, and release payouts.
• To verify employee identity and prevent fraud or abuse.
• To send transactional notifications about your requests and account.
• To comply with legal and tax obligations.

3. Payment & Financial Data

Card and bank details are handled directly by our PCI-compliant payment processors. ReferView does not store full card numbers. Referral fees are held in escrow and released to employees only after a candidate confirms the referral or the confirmation window lapses.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with: payment processors to complete transactions; identity verification partners where legally required for payout KYC; and authorities where required by law. Employer and email verification is performed in-house using our own internal OTP system — we do not send your company email or login details to any third-party verification vendor for this step. Limited profile information is visible to other users as part of the marketplace experience.

5. Data Retention

We retain account and transaction records for as long as your account is active and as required to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations.

6. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, subject to records we are legally required to keep. To exercise these rights, contact us through the channels listed on our site.

6a. Rights Under Indian Law (DPDP Act, 2023)

If you are located in India, you have rights as a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). ReferView acts as a Data Fiduciary in respect of your personal data. Your rights include:

• The right to access a summary of the personal data we process about you and how it is processed.
• The right to correction, completion, updating, and erasure of your personal data.
• The right to grievance redressal and to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
• The right to withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights or to raise a grievance, contact our Grievance Officer at support@referview.com. We will respond within the timelines prescribed under applicable law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including password hashing, encrypted transport (HTTPS), rate limiting, and access controls. No system is completely secure, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
